Vitamin D is a group of fat-soluble vitamins and includes two main forms: vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) and vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol). Vitamin D can be made by the body itself with the help of sunlight; it can also be obtained from food or supplements.


 Vitamin D is important for regulating calcium balance.
